Sound Around Recalls Children’s Multi-Purpose Helmets Due to Risk of Head Injury

Name of Product:  Hurtle Multi-Purpose Helmet 

 

Hazard: The recalled helmets do not comply with the positional stability requirements of the U.S. CPSC federal safety standard for bicycle helmets. The helmets can fail to protect in the event of a crash, posing a risk of head injury.

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled helmets and contact Sound Around to receive a refund of the purchase price. To receive a refund, consumers should destroy the helmet by cutting off the straps, upload photos of the helmet with the straps cut to the registration website and then dispose of the recalled helmet. Consumers who received the unit as a free promotion should dispose of the unit so that children cannot use it.

1. What is the reason for the recall? 

Sound Around has become aware that its Hurtle Multi Purpose Helmet do not comply with the positional stability requirements of the U.S. CPSC federal safety standard for bicycle helmets. The helmets can fail to protect in the event of a crash, posing a risk of head injury.

2. What Should I Do? 

  • Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled helmets
  • Consumers who purchased the unit should contact Sound Around to receive a refund of the purchase price. 
    1. Purchasers must have their online proof of purchase in order to process their refund.
      • This is because some units were provided to some consumers for free. 
    2. Once the refund is registered for, consumers should dispose of it in a sealed garbage bag to prevent your children or other children from using the helmet.
    3. The helmet should not be donated.   
  • Consumers who received the unit as a free promotion should dispose of the unit in a sealed garbage bag to prevent your children or other children from using the helmet.

3. Have there been any reported injuries?

No. 

4. Why do I have to dispose of the helmet? 

These products must be disposed of so we can be certain they will not pose a risk to you or others. 

5. How do I dispose of the helmet? 

Cut the black straps in the helmet and place the recalled helmets in a sealed garbage bag to prevent your children or other children from accessing them. The helmet should not be donated.

6. How can I tell if my product is recalled? 

This recall involves the Hurtle children’s bicycle helmet sold in five colors: Black, Blue, Pink, White, and Red.  The helmets have the word “Renegade” written on the side in white or black lettering. The white warning label on the inside of the helmet has the word “Renegade” in black and orange lettering.
