As a live audio engineer/tech, this product helps reduce the time I spend solving cable related problems before I even setup a system. I use a lot of adapter cables including those with non-standard pin assignments. This box shows the termination pin of each end so you know your pinouts are routed as desired. It is housed in a rugged steel box and has has durable, well mounted connectors (XLR M/F, 2/4 Pin Speakon, RCA, 5-Pin DIN (MIDI), 3.5 TRS, 1/4 TRS and a banana plug. The manufacturer's warranty is 12 months and requires a $20 payment for return postage and handling. Under warranty policy, you must also ship the unit to NY and include a money order which adds another $10-12. With the average price of this unit being around $30, it is cheaper to buy another unit. Therefore, the warranty has no value to me and I will either repair or replace the unit myself at my discretion should it fail.

The item is exceptionally well constructed - "heavy duty, professional equipment" feeling and appearance similar to Radial Engineering products. It is an excellent value and met the expectations I had formulated from reading the Amazon product description as well as the significant number of positive reviews. I always disregard the one or two extreme negative reviews if the overwhelming majority of reviews for a particualr product and/or brand are positive. An experienced sound technician could probably do all the same functions with a small multi-meter, but nowhere near as quickly, and anyone can use this box. In live performance situations time is usually the one thing you never have on your side. This little box can help eliminate/isolate/identify potential problems quickly so that precious minutes can be spent actually correcting the problem, rather than looking for it. I would highly recommend this tester to anyone engaged in live sound work. I consider items like this to be an invaluable tool of the trade for professional sound engineers.
